Ray Hoover
Public Engagement Manager, Apex Clean Energy

Ray Hoover is the Public Engagement Manager who leads Apex Clean Energy’s public and community engagement efforts for projects throughout Illinois. Though he was born in Carbondale, Ray grew up on the windswept plains of North Dakota where his community was devastated by a thousand-year flood. As his family and friends rebuilt their lives, he learned first-hand about the effects of climate change, but also the value of economic development and the impact of public service. Ray holds a degree in Political Science and Communications from St. Cloud State University and has more than 15 years of experience in government and as a community organizer for nonprofits and campaigns.

As a Public Engagement Manager, Ray works closely with local elected leaders, community leaders, landowners, and residents to gather local feedback, answer common questions, and work with communities to help realize their opportunities for renewable energy development. Ray lives in Minnesota with his wife Sarah and their cats, Pancake and Hashbrown.

Josh Hartke
Illinois Field Manager, Apex Clean Energy

Josh grew up on a farm near Effingham, Illinois, and graduate from the University of Illinois in 1997 with a degree in Economics. He has since been an environmental activist, a Champaign County board member, political organizer, and published author. He has had a lifelong commitment to the natural resources and beauty of his home state, and wants to help Apex build a new, clean energy future for Illinois.
